چکیده

The quality and accuracy of DEMs derived from repeatpass InSAR is limited by atmospheric phase screen (APS) difference and decorrelation between SAR images. In this paper, we show a compromising but effective approach to avoid DEM gaps and remove height errors induced by the atmosphere. Existing low resolution DEMs are used as external data to improve the quality of interferometric DEM. Our approach focuses on two aspects: 1) Estimate the APS from a differential interferogram with a low-pass filter in the frequency domain, and remove the height errors caused by APS. 2) Fill data voids and calibrate the height with an external DEM. The proposed method has been applied on high-resolution COSMO-SkyMed Tandem data with one-day temporal baseline over Mt. Qilian in north-western China. The resultant DEM has been validated in comparison with an officially-issued 1:50,000 DEM. Our preliminary result shows that atmospheric artifacts and data voids have been removed effectively.

Water vapour distribution at urban scale using high-resolution numerical weather model and spaceborne SAR interferometric data

The local distribution of water vapour in the urban area of Rome has been studied using both a high resolution mesoscale model (MM5) and Earth Remote Sensing-1 (ERS-1) satellite radar data. Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) techniques, after the removal of all other geometric effects, estimate excess path length variation between two different SAR acquisitions (Atmospheric Phase ...

Improving Dems Using Sar Interferometry

Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) processing relies on phase unwrapping to convert interferometric phase to topographic height. Phase unwrapping is a di cult non-linear process that is still the subject of on-going research. Rather than processing the complete phase image to extract a digital elevation model (DEM), we use existing coarse DEMs as an integral part of the InSAR algo...

Dem Registration, Alignment and Evaluation for Sar Interferometry

To generate an accurate digital elevation model (DEM), Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) requires precise orbit data and baseline information, which are not always available. An alternative approach is to apply quality ground control points (GCPs) into the InSAR processing. However, locating high quality GCPs can also be difficult task, due to the low spatial resolution and radio...

However, the current ...

InSAR phase analysis: Phase unwrapping for noisy SAR interferograms

Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) exploits the phase difference between two complex radar signals for extracting information about the earth surface.
